“Discover How You Can Potty Train Your Beagle Yourself And Avoid Accidents In Your Home”
The beagle is probably my favorite breed of dog. I think it is their independent nature that I like so much, but when it comes to potty training a beagle it can be a very discouraging trait.
You may know what I mean, when you want your beagle to go outside to go potty, he either runs off to find whatever scent he smells, or just looks at you with a blank stare.
It makes potty training your beagle both a joy and a frustration all at the same time.
If you have read any books on house training, most of them say that the beagle (and most other dog breeds) can be potty trained in a week or two depending on how persistent you are.
I think this is true to a degree but your beagle is not going to have full control of his bladder until he is about 4 months old, give or take a month or two, some beagles take even longer to develop.
This is why you should expect accidents to happen in your home when your beagle is in his infancy.
It seems that no matter how often you take him out to the bathroom, he always seems to “forget” and do it when he comes back inside.
There are a few tricks and tips you can use to help your beagle do his business outside like he should.
First you will want to find a spot on your lawn, or wherever it is you want your beagle to go (on the neighbor’s lawn maybe
) and take your beagle to that same spot often. This spot should be a “potty only spot” and you will not want to play with your beagle and get him excited so he forgets to go while you are there.
Also, using word association will help to. What I mean is just when your puppy is going potty outside where you want, say something like “go potty”. This will help your beagle realize that you want him to go and if you keep doing it, he will know that when you say “go potty” it is time to go potty and he will. Dogs are smart like that!
Another helpful tip is to keep food and water out of reach during the day and only feed and water your puppy when you think it’s time. Don’t deprive him of water though, just monitor it and take him out to his potty spot after he is done.
Doing this alone will cut back on accidents in your house dramatically and it will get your beagle on a set schedule that he will continue to follow for the rest of his life.
These are just a few tips that I have picked up and wanted to share with you.
Of course learning how to potty train your beagle is probably the next best thing you can do so you may want to invest in a course that will help you to understand and potty train your beagle.
The one I use is called:
“Dove Cresswells Puppy & Dog Training Online”. I like this training course because it is all in video and it is easy to follow along with Dove as she explains exactly how to potty train your puppy.
This course also covers basic obedience training which is never too early to start and comes with a lot of cool bonuses that both you and your beagle puppy will enjoy.
This system is designed to be fun for both you and your dog so it’s more like play then actual training.
You can check out this unique training course by clicking here.
